Then it cuts to Germany, who got some work done early, and went to France to eat. He’s in disguise, of course. But then, he asks for anything from the waiter. But then, the waiter turns out to be France. XD

Episode 2~!
So, where we left off before, Germany found a box labeled with ‘Tomatoes’. He pokes it, and hears a voice inside from a “tomato box fairy”. Not believing it really is a tomato box fairy, Germany proceeds to open it. And when he does, out comes…

You could have chosen a better lie, Italy. xD

So anyways, he proceeds to beg for his life. Italy really really doesn’t want Germany to shoot him. XD

“I’ll do anything, just please don’t shoot me~”
“I’m just weak li’l Italy, please don’t shoot me!”
“I have relatives in Bavaria, so don’t shoot me…”
“I’m very sorry, so please don’t shoot me!”
And let’s not forget…

TMI, much? Well I guess when you're begging for your life...

Lol. Italy keeps going on and on about how would have liked some pasta before he died, pasta pasta pasta. So Germany is thinking “How the heck can this silly guy be the descendant of Rome?” But he asks, and Italy confirms it, then changes his mood completely. He thinks Germany is understanding and kind, but then Germany becomes paranoid and thinks it’s all a trap, and captures Italy.

Roflmao. xDDD

So yeah, Italy is captured but… he makes no effort to run away. xD Even when Germany leaves the door open. Italy walks out, talks with some girls, then walks right back in. He says, “Why should I run away? I get food and don’t have to fight.” Poor Germany, he thinks watching Italy is so boring. Then, to Chibitalia. =w=b

The Chibitalia this time is pretty much how the Holy Roman Empire tried to force Italy to come over to his house, and France tries to stop that.  But we have a win scene involving one of my favorite countries, Spain. =D

And yeah, it goes on about how Italy was always weak and bullied by France, Spain, Austria, & Holy Roman Empire. xD

Episode 3! So yeah, it starts out with Italy saying, “Germany, Germany! I wrote you a song!” I’d post it up, but it’s better when you watch it. XD I’ll give you the lyrics though. =w=b

“Germany, Germany, Germany is a great place.
They feed me even though I’m a prisoner.
The food doesn’t taste like crappy British stuff either~
Sausage, cheese, it’s all so tasty~!
For a dog, it’s heaven. That’s what Germany is~

But… why are all Germans so stern? I feel like I’m going to be crushed by their intimidation.
My heart is so afraid and I’m going to cry. The girls are so big too…
Is it your hobby to burst barrels of beer every day~?
Also please stop raiding my house in swarms~ The tourists are way too scary~
German chicks are bigger and better built than me, Yahoo~!”

And so the war ended and Italy was sent back. xD So Germany is back home making money to send to France.

And Italy comes looking for a job, and after some begging, Germany gives him one. Then, it’s World War II. =w=

That's also scary, Germany. =w=;;

Anyways, one of Germany’s soldiers come in, saying the worst most possible thing has happened. What is it?! DUM DUM DUM. Germany has become Italy’s ally. Oh no! XD After some nice words and kirakira-ness from Italy, Germany finally consents and accepts it.

Kirei aozora~ Touching moment lol.

But in the end, Italy didn’t really help out Germany at all. XD If anything, Italy made things worse.

Episode 4! This episode starts out with a new character!

Kyaaa, Japan~~~

YAY JAPAN. If you’re wondering, I’m a fangirl of him now since I heard his character album & his version of ‘Marukaite Chikyuu’. HIS VOICE IS FECKING AWESOME. =w=b *cough* Okay, I’m done now… >w>

Anyways, Germany brings Japan to meet Italy.

Ahahah, Italy loves the women.

So then it goes to where Japan is good at making miniatures, and Germany is amazed. Then while Japan & Italy are in the bath, Italy asks Japan if he can make a miniature of him. Japan says no, then Italy notices something and it goes to a scene I don’t really get. =w=;;; Anyways, then it goes to Chibitalia. In this one there are wars and Austria gains control of Italy, and makes Italy his servant.

Episode 5~! Germany, Japan, & Italy are at the beach. They’re doing well, Italy is having fun swimming, Germany & Japan are enjoying themselves (even though they’re just sitting around) but…

Felt I had to point Italy out because he was tiny. xD

They’re at the beach, but not because they want to be. xD Anyways so, Germany makes a chart in the sand that shows the status of their enemies (I.e. the relationships of England, France, America, China, & Russia). The chart says:

France <—> England: They’ve been fighting since birth. Cannot cooperate with each other.
America <—> England: He’s (America) a pest. Already has anti-British missions prepared. (LOLWHAT WE DO?!?)
China <—> England: Opium war. (I have no idea what this means)
Russia <—> China: [Russia] wants him (China). (…. xD)
Russia <—> England: [Russia] resents England for stopping his southern advance into Asia.
England <—> Russia: Grrrrr.

Ahahaha. Anyways, they go see what Italy is doing and…

That goes against the laws of gravity. xD

Lol. then to Chibitalia~

So not much is happening, just Italy is now a servant working at Austria & Holy Roman Empire’s house. He wants to draw, so he goes and does just that. XD

Rofl he drew a mustache on Austria's portrait. xD

On to episode 6! It starts out with our main group (Japan, Germany, & Italy) around the campfire, with Italy sleeping. But oh no, someone seems to be spying on them. It then cuts to where Germany tells Austria about being allies with Italy, then Austria gets mad and expresses how mad he is by playing the piano. xD It cuts back to our group around the campfire, eating smores and such.

WHAT ABOUT THE CHOCOLATE?! D:

And then, we get to see who the spies are.

Here are the spies. =w= America's such an airhead. xD

Then, it cuts to Chibitalia, and shows how Italy would always get scolded by Austria. Even so, Italy loved it when Austria played the piano.

Austria isn't so mean after all~ =w=b

So then it goes back to the spies, who are now roasting marshmallows as well. France is singing some song in a scary tone, so the mood goes sour and America freaks out. XD

But really, if you heard the way France was singing it, it really did. xD

And then it goes to another really random scene, about where Austria is living with Germany, so Germany dislikes going home. xD Why? Because Austria is Austria. =w=;;

Austria... sews it up and makes Germany wear it anyways. xD

Then the scene goes back to our Axis Powers group (geez, this episode keeps going round and round.), who are still sitting around the campfire. The mood is quite good, considering the music playing is nice piano music. Germany wonders how Austria’s doing, but then Italy gets up and points out to the sea, and says, “Oh, he’s been over there the whole time, you know.” Turns out the piano music is coming from Austria, who’s playing a piano in the ocean… (How does that even work? xD) Then the episode ends on this scene:

So yeah, everything is progressing nicely, and the comedy is still there. XD I just love this series lol. Cute, short, funny, (slightly) educational—it’s perfect for me lol. XDD I’ve been listening to alot of Hetalia-based songs lately on Youtube, they’re so addicting. I plan to download some~*w* You know what this means? Linkspam time~! >DD YAYYY.

I never get tired of Marukaite Chikyuu. It’s so cute. It makes one feel happy~~ =D YAY WORLD PEACE.

Anyways, I’ve always been curious about this series—I kept seeing fanart of it, and was wondering why the characters were named after countries. After seeing Lennie fangirl about it, I decided to watch it last night. And I found it to be oddly educational and very entertaining. (That’s right, I said it– educational.) I laughed at Hetalia like I haven’t laughed in a long time… if I recall last time I laughed this hard for an anime was when I saw episodes 1 & 2 of School Rumble on Funimation. xD (That was like 3 years ago. Fail, right?) Moving on, the historical facts portrayed are pretty accurate… I think. I love history, but my memory is fail. The way the characters portray the countries is lots of stereotyping– but oh well, it makes the series funny. And some of it looks to be true, ahahaha….

Since I’m not as dedicated to anime as much as Cafesuu, I’m going to take the screenshots from online anime-streaming sites instead of DL-ing high quality episodes like her. xD This post is only going to be screenshot-spammed because I’d like to show all the characters. After this, there won’t be so much. xD

The series starts off with like, a world meeting or something. All the countries come together to dicuss problems. The one they’re currently discussing is global warming. xD

This is America. Looks like such a nub, doesn’t he? xD

Meet Spain. He’s a cutie, nyahaha.

Here’s Sweden & Finland. If I read correctly, they are divorced. You see when countries are merged, it’s defined as “marriage”, since the countries are represented by people. When they split, it’s “divorce”. I’m not sure, I remember seeing this somewhere… (the SwedenxFinland thing), but I may also be wrong OTL. But when you think about the characters and marriage… *cough* Shounen-ai much? I know they’re countries, but still. xDDD

Uhm yeah… that’s America’s idea for on how to stop global warming… =w=;;

Here’s Japan & Switzerland. Apparently Japan is always agreeing and never giving an opinion. xD Japan’s eyes look so dead to me. There’s no shine in them. xD

England~ He’s such a cutie too— at least until you see has has like 7 pairs of eyebrows. xD But still, cute. >w<b

And here’s France. I don’t like him lol. He looks like such a fruit. xD So he disagrees with both America & England, but that makes no sense at all. And they begin quarreling (they being America, England, & France)

Woo! China! He tries to solve the argument by offering food. But that doesn’t work. xD

Russia & Lithuania. Sadistic, Russia is sadistic. xD Oh wait, Wiki says Russia is yandere as well. I’m not surprised. xD

Finally, a country that’s represented by a girl. Belarus~ And Latvia looks quite out of it, don’t you think? xD

Estonia. He reminds me of another anime/manga character, but I can’t remember who exactly right now. Kyouya, maybe? (Ouran) The expression I guess, but the dialogue? Definitely not. xD Unless you’re talking sarcastically. =w=b

Poland comes in to defend Lithuania. x) I don’t get the dialogue, but it probably has to do with some agreement or something. =w=

Sleepy Greece~ I wonder why he’s asleep though. xD
And so, finally someone comes in to break up the madness.

Germany! He shuts everyone up, and asks if anyone has anything to say. Someone raises his hand, and it’s…

Our main character Italy. I mean, the title itself shows that. xD (Hetalia [ヘタリア] is a made-up word combining hetare [へタレ], –which is Japanese for useless– and Italia [イタリア], or Italy. This is to make light of Italy’s apparent cowardice during World War II.) Now, what Italy says is completely useless. =w=;;

Pasta~~~! Eh what?
Enough with the characters now, let’s go to the story.

It cuts to one of those “A long long time ago” things. Well, a guy named the Roman Empire had conquered the Medditerranean. He had all the riches and land. But one day, he suddenly disappeared. And now, it’s World War I. The one telling the story is Germany. He’s going crossing the border to somewhere (dosen’t say where), because he’s on a mission to fight the descendants of the Roman Empire. But nobody’s around, all the people he does see run away. And he doesn’t even have a descent weapon. He has a stick. xDD I mean, he has a gun but it’s on his back. =w=

Oh he’s so threatening. xDD

So Germany becomes paranoid that these people are up to something. He keeps his guard up, and comes across a box. This box is labeled tomatoes. And the episode ends (To be continued… xD), and it goes to Chibitalia.

From right to left, the people—France, Holy Roman Empire. [Northern] Italy, Austria, Spain, & Hungary.

Chibitalia is pretty much the history of the young Italy. (We’re talking Northern Italy, the main character. Southern Italy does come in sometimes though.)

So pretty much Italy was kidnapped by Grandfather Roman Empire (i.e. Italy was isolated from the rest of everyone?) Well this is where Italy learns to draw really well and stuff, then returns “home” to his Onii-chans, France & Spain. But turns out his onii-chans have grown up to be bullies and such, and he’s always running away from the Holy Roman Empire, because the Holy Roman Empire wants to force him to become a part of the Holy Roman Empire. I don’t really understand this… it may have meant Italy wasn’t doing the same religion as everyone? I don’t know. xD

Overall, I liked the first episode. I was surprised it was so short though. xDD But I like the character designs, they’re pretty accurate. =w=b This is pretty much the intro episode, more development will come later. x)

And the ending is adorable, it’s got all the countries chibi-form for the first part. xD
