Anyways, let’s get on to the review! xD

So we left off before with Kirari declaring at the SHIPS concert that she was aiming to become an idol. After this, Hiroto comes out and drags her off stage, telling her she’s an idiot. So she gets kicked out of the concert, etc. etc. The next day at school, turns out her friends are reading the lastest news, entitled, “Mysterious Beautiful Girl at SHIPS concert announces she wants to be an idol” or something like that. Fortunately, one of her friends notice that this mysterious girl has their uniform, and wonders if it’s Kirari. Kirari tells them it was her like it’s nothing. xD

*da-dum*

So anyways, she said she fell in love with Seiji before she knew he was an idol, so to get to him, she has to become one as well. Her classmates decide to support her, and so she shows them how she plans to become and idol. xD

Hiroto was on to something, turns out Kirari isn’t exactly the brightest lightbulb out there… =w=;;

Anyways so, after reading that the judges of this contest will be none other than ships themselves, Kirari becomes determined to go. So, she gets to the building, and is probably traumatized by what she sees…

……Ehwhat? O____O

So after screaming, someone pulls her out of there and shuts the door. The poor guys in there are like, “Wtf just happened…?” xDDD Anyways, the person who pulled her out is none other than “the bad-natured guy”, lol.

This page is full of win. Kirari dosen’t address Hiroto by his name, Naa-san kicks Hiroto, and Kirari goes all kirakira when Seiji comes along. XDDD Hiroto’s expression in the last panel is win, too.

So Hiroto asks the reason Kirari is here in the first place, and…

Why is Hiroto laughing, you ask? Turns out Kirari didn’t read the fine print, the audition is limited to guys only. xD So Hiroto calls her an idiot and tells her to go away. Seiji apologizes about Hiroto’s behavior and walks off after saying, “I’m happy that you came, Kirari-chan.” >w< So cuteee. So Kirari sighs and wonders what to do. Naa-san comes over with something, and then our heroine has an idea. ;D

Woo! Crossdressing! Luckily no one’s noticed she’s a girl, so all is good. Meanwhile, in the judges room…

I swear, Seiji kills with his little glomp-Hiro-kun moment. >w<

I’m going to be lazy and show you the scan instead of writing, plus the scan is so much more funny. xD

Rofllll. This is where “crossdressing cats” come into place. xD
(Note: Kirari replaced the last character of her name (”ri”) with the kanji for male, thus making it “Kirao”.)

So after passing, Kirari is confronted by that fat kid she bumped into earlier.

So turns out this guy likes her, and Kirari counters with “But I’m a guy!”. Too bad this fat kid doesn’t care. (Thus the term, ‘fruity fat kid’.) So he tries to make a move, but Naa-san attacks him. Unfortunately, fruity fat guy throws Naa-san out the window and into a tree, where Naa-san faints.

Hiroto & Seiji are still taking interviews when they hear alot of noise outside. They look out the window, and see Kirari. Climbing a tree. xD

What I don’t get is why Hiroto doesn’t call Kirari with a suffix. Seiji does. Don’t think it’s just the scanlations, because it’s the same ways in the raws too. xD Actually, Hiroto never uses suffixes. =w=;;; And they say not using a suffix is supposed to be only for very close people… tsk tsk. He’s like that Tomoya guy in Clannad, who’d rather use no suffixes than a ‘-chan’. xD Moving on, Kirari successfully gets to Naa-san, and Naa-san regains consciousness. But again, Kirari is faced with certain death as the branch she’s standing on breaks beneath her weight. As usual, manga is predictable, and a certain someone saves her.

So anyways, Hiroto saves her and her wig falls off, thus exposing she’s a girl. They all get back down safely, and Kirari apologizes to the company manager for pretending to be a boy. But to everyone’s surprise, he dosen’t scold her or anything.

So Kirari accepts. Woo! She got her job as an idol, but we have to see if she can pull it off. ;D

Yay~ \(^o^)/ Like I said, this chapter was lighthearted and cute, but we got some development as well! Hehehe. That fat kid was creepy. Extremely. XD Moving on… I think what landed Kirari her job was two things. One, her determination. The manager (he was also at the judging, just not in any of the panels I scanned) knew she was a girl, but saw she really wanted to be an idol and went so far as to crossdress. xD (In the anime it’s way more drastic, there are I believe several differnt rounds—talent, personality, &… swimsuit. Kirari pulls that last one off by dressing in a takoyaki suit. XD And apparently her talent was so amazing it wasn’t shown–we just heard it. The camera was on Hiroto at the time. =w=b) The second is probably also the biggest trait that let the manager give her a chance– her looks. She’s adorable, and as we all know, you usually need looks to get in the idol business.  =w=;;

Sorry Hiroto, I found Seiji absolutely adorable in this chapter~~~ >w< Especially the Hiro-kun glomp and the “Sorry I’m not interested in guys ^^” thing. xD

And so begins where I shall see who I liked better in every chapter… nyahahaha. =w=b

Tsukishima Kirari is a 14 year old girl who’s absolutely adorable… but all she cares about is eating! She’s had tons of potential to become a model or an celebrity, but she always ends up showing her gluttonous side instead of her cute one. One day while walking with her friends, she finds a turtle stuck in a tree, and goes up to save it. She rescues it successfully, and ends up falling–but then is caught by the owner of the turtle, who she falls in love with at first sight~ Kirari finds out later this guy who saved her is Hiwatari Seiji of the famous singing duo SHIPS, and persues to follow him into the celebrity business. But Kirari finds out being famous isn’t as easy as it looks—it’s alot to do for a girl who can’t even fix her own hair in the morning! There’s also the other half of SHIPS, the bad-mouthed Kazama Hiroto who’s always discouraging Kirari and making fun of her. But in order to obtain the guy she wants and start her career as an idol, Kirari vows to do her best.

(my summary fails, doesn’t it~ xD)

I found out about the manga from the anime (because [most of the time] behind every anime, there’s usually a great manga or a light novel >D). While the anime was pretty fail in my opinion (at least now it is, I loved it before), the manga is cute. ;D Sure there’s the issue with the art (huuuge eyes and  a tiny dot nose), but I’ve grown fond of it. x) And the guys look so much better in the manga. xD The only thing that I liked about the anime was their voices. 8D They had voices that fit so perfectly lol. Moving on, stuff under the cut. (:

So the chapter starts off with Kirari just walking along the street, when she gets stopped by a scouting group. She turns, and they see she’s so cute. xD

*doki*

She says she can’t do anything right now because she’s in a hurry, so she runs off. The scout saying he’d “Never seen anyone that cute before” goes after her with his crew. He finds her, but…

*do~n*

Lol. She loves eating. So the scouts run away, and Kirari wins a years worth of free crepes. Naa-san (her cat) gives her a lecture on how she shouldn’t be so gluttonous on camera. xD Her friends catch up with her, and give her a good learning experience about idols.

Psh, chips. xD

So while her friends are talking, Kirari ends up going to a takoyaki stand instead and eating. xD She comments what kind of guy she’d like, then someone bumps into her.

So after this weird guy leaves, our heroine (well actually, it’s Naa-san) sees a turtle in a tree. Kirari saves it and falls off the balcony. [Not surprisingly] instead of falling to her death, she’s caught by someone. It turns out to be the weird guy from earlier, and he’s the one who owns the turtle. He’s not really weird either, he’s actually cute. ;D

He’s so cute with his turtle. >w<

So Kirari finds out his name is Seiji, and he gives her some tickets to a concert as a reward for saving & finding his turtle. Kirari also falls in love with him, so decides to go to this concert with hopes to see him. It’s crowded and loud, so she decides to see if she can enter through as side door. But, while wandering around, someone happens to jump out of the 2nd story window and land on her. x3

You can’t expect a slow girl like Kirari to move 2 seconds after you yell it, Hiroto. xD

But then…

Way to break the ice. xD

So Kirari asks him if he knows Seiji, since she noticed he’s staff too. When she explains she fell in love with him, he gets mad and tears up her tickets, telling her not to get close to Seiji. She gets mad, hits him with Naa-san, then runs off to find another way in. After being kicked out and turned away multiple times, a frustrated Kirari bangs her head on a door. And it opens. xD There’s a ladder inside, and she climbs it to see a stage. Particularly a stage with Seiji & that “bad-natured guy”. Turns out they’re the famous group her friends were telling her about– SHIPS.

That’s highhh up, Kirari. xD

So she panics— then falls. Luckily, there’s that star-shaped cushion underneath, so she’s saved from death again.

But, turns out everyone saw her, so they have to cover her appearance up. Saying “She snuck in” isn’t exactly the best thing to announce. xD But not to worry, Seiji & Hiroto handled it. >w<b

Seiji is hilarious with his turtle. xD

So Seiji goes out to calm the crowd down, and Hiroto decides to be mean to Kirari. =P

That’s evil, Hiro-kun. (Stole Seiji’s nickname for him nyahahaha)

But yay, our heroine doesn’t give up. Kirari pushes Hiroto away, spots a microphone, grabs it, then runs out on stage. She bravely announces…

What shall happen now? Nobody knows. (Except for me and others who have happened to read it, rofl.)
I was happy with the first chapter, mainly because I could imagine how Seiji & Hiroto sounded (courtesy of the anime, lol). Especially when Seiji says, “Hiro-kun”. It’s so cute~~! >w< Oh also, in these scans everything Naa-san says isn’t translated, but it’s pretty easy to get what it is. He’s saying “Na”, rofl. I love how Nakahara An draws. Especially when Hiroto & Seiji go into chibis. It’s just so cute. And I can’t pick between Hiroto & Seiji. It’s too hard. D:
